Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
What is coaching?
Coaching is a process that allows you to reflect and gain awareness of who you really are, what's important to you and what you want to create in your life. Through partnering with a coach, you gain a neutral and unbiased space to explore different options and perspectives in order to make conscious choices about how best to move you forward. The coach will typically not give you advice or answers, but they will instead unlock and grow the potential and awareness that already exists within you. Most importantly they will also act as an accountability partner to help you achieve your goals.
What is Verification?
Any coach can register their services with Coachtap.com as there are many different levels of training and/or experience in the coaching sector. However, some people prefer the peace of mind to choose a coach that has reached a certain level of training or certification. For every coach that registers as 'Professionally trained' or 'Certified', we manually validate their credentials at sign up and include a 'Professionally Trained' or 'Certified' badge on their profile.
Do I need coaching?
Nobody 'needs' coaching, however it is a proven and powerful way to accelerate your personal growth. The best athletes have a coach to ensure that they are operating at peak performance. Technically the athlete has the ability within them to be extraordinary, however the job of the coach is to draw it out of them. You could think of a life coach like a personal trainer for your mind, bringing out the best in you whilst overcoming any negative voices and limiting beliefs. Coaching builds a stronger clearer mindset to help you achieve what you want in life.
What topics does coaching address?
The simple answer to this is anything! The agenda is set by the client and the coach will deep dive into any area where you are stuck or want to see change. Some coaches specialise in certain areas but common topics are personal relationships, career, money, health, self-image and many more. Typically clients find that by addressing one area it has a knock on effect on other areas of their life.
What are some of the benefits of coaching?
Some of the typical benefits from coaching are:
- A stronger mindset and a sense that you have charge over your own life
- Clarity on your values and purpose
- The motivation and momentum to achieve your goals
- The ability to overcome obstacles and limiting beliefs
- Increased self-acceptance, self-confidence and self-authority
- A stronger relationship with yourself and the people around you
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Therapy primarily focusses on a client's mental health, to diagnose and treat psychological issues or pain which is often related to events of the past. Coaching focusses on working with the client’s mental growth, to deal with what is here now and what they want to create for the future. There is nothing to be fixed or diagnosed with coaching, it is all about guiding you to connect more deeply with who you are and unlocking your potential to create the life that you really want.
What about confidentiality?
Everything that is discussed during a coaching session is strictly confidential and many coaches have signed up to a strict code of conduct through a professional coaching body.
Are results guaranteed?
Like most things, nothing is 100% guaranteed and results will always vary between each coach and client. However, if the client commits to fully showing up for each session and actioning any tasks/commitments as a result of those sessions, there is a strong likelyhood to achieve a result
Where do the coaching sessions take place?
This varies from coach to coach, however coaching sessions are typically held over online video (Zoom, Teams or other), Telephone or Face to Face.
